    Dr. Robert I. Russell is a graduate of the University of Alabama and received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology in 1980. He then went on to pursue his Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine from Pennsylvania College of Podiatric Medicine and completed his studies in 1984.

    Dr. Russell is licensed/certified to practice Podiatric Medicine in the State of Alabama. He received his certifications in the following:

    • American Board of Podiatric
    • Surgery in July, 1992
    • American Council of Certified Podiatric Physicians and Surgeons in July, 1989
    • National Board of Podiatric Medical Examiners in July 1984


    Dr. Russell completed his residency in foot surgery at Riverside Hospital and then became part of Podiatry Associates, PC which was started by his father in 1986. He also completed his externships at Kern Hospital, JFK memorial Hospital and Frankford Torresdale Hospital. Many of Dr. Russell honors come from his involvement within the Podiatric contingency as well as his involvement with community. He received the following awards:

    • The Leadership Award from the Alabama Podiatry Association in 1993
    • Hershey Student Award for Outstanding Service 1984
    • Outstanding Young Men in America 1984
    • Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities in 1984.

    Dr. Russell is well respected in the Podiatric community and has held the positions of President, Vice President, and Treasure for the Alabama Podiatry Association. He currently holds the title of Chairman for the Alabama Podiatry Political Action Committee and has since 1987. Along with these positions, Dr. Russell continues to take an active role in teaching others about podiatry, foot care and medical responsibilities. He is currently an instructor for UAB Primary Care Medical Residency Program as well as an instructor for UAB Medical West in Diabetes and Foot Care. Dr. Russell also teaches a Medical Ethics class at UAB.

    When Dr. Russell has the time off he enjoys golfing, fishing, medical mission work and working with homeless shelters. Dr. Russell enjoys spending time with his children, wife Charlotte and extended family.
